This 1916 storybook-style cottage in New Canaan, CT is one of the most charming, character-filled homes you’ll find. Our work involved collaborating with an architect on a full interior renovation, including reconfiguring walls, opening up spaces, and a complete kitchen remodel. The design direction—guided by our client, a photographer with a background in fashion—embraced a casual sensibility with a neutral palette, rich textures, and warm wood tones. It was essential to strike a balance between contemporary elements and the home’s inherent cottage charm, ensuring neither overpowered the other. The outcome is a restrained, somewhat minimal aesthetic that feels rich, layered, and perfectly in tune with the home’s scale and spirit.
